CALLED WHAT YOU ARE BECOMING
Scripture: Judges 6:12
“When the angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon, he said, ‘The Lord is with you, mighty warrior.’”
Gideon was not standing on a battlefield when he received this greeting. He was hiding; threshing wheat in a winepress out of fear of the Midianites. Yet God called him “mighty warrior.” This shows us something profound: God does not speak to us based only on our current condition, but on our divine potential and His purpose for our lives.
1. in the way God addressed Gideon. Gideon saw himself as weak, fearful, and insignificant, hiding from his enemies, yet God spoke to him according to what he would become; a mighty warrior. This reveals that God sees beyond our present condition. While human perspective says, “I am hiding, I am afraid,” the divine perspective declares, “You are a mighty warrior.” Even when you feel unqualified or unprepared, God’s vision for your life is greater than your current reality.
2. God’s Presence Defines Your Identity: This identity is rooted in God’s presence. The statement “The Lord is with you” comes before “mighty warrior,” showing that it is not personal strength that makes one mighty, but the presence of God. True identity flows from relationship with God, not from circumstances. When you truly understand that God is with you, confidence begins to replace fear, and you start to see yourself differently.
3. God Calls Forth What Is Hidden Within You: Furthermore, God calls forth what is hidden within us. Gideon did not yet act like a warrior, but God’s word initiated his transformation. God’s calling is creative, it brings into being what was not previously visible. The declaration comes before the manifestation. This means we must pay attention to what God calls us, even when it does not align with how we feel, because His word is actively shaping our future.
4. Your Response Determines Your Transformation: However, transformation also depends on our response. Gideon questioned, doubted, and even asked for signs, yet he ultimately chose to obey. Growth does not require instant perfection; it requires a willingness to follow God step by step. You do not have to feel ready; you simply have to be willing.
Gideon’s story reminds us that God sees greatness where we see weakness, His presence is the true source of our strength, and His word defines our identity more than our circumstances. Therefore, take a moment to reflect: what has God called you that you have not yet believed? And are you living from fear, or from God’s declaration over your life?
Prayer

Call forth the strength, courage, and purpose You have placed inside me. Teach me to walk in obedience and become all that You have spoken over my life In the name of Jesus. Amen.
