LIVING WATER – EPISODE 611 || 5TH FEBRUARY, 2026
By Solomon Uwumbolibe Mensah
THE SUPREMACY OF THE ARCHITECT AND KING
Colossians 1:15–16 & Revelation 22:20
"He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible... all things have been created through him and for him."(Colossians 1:15-16)
The transition from Colossians to Revelation is the transition from the Origin to the Outcome. If Colossians 1 shows us Jesus as the Architect of all existence, Revelation 22 shows us Jesus as the Auditor of all history. He who spoke the world into being is the same One who will speak the final word over it. To understand the end of the book, we must understand the Character of the Author.
1. The Visible Image of the Invisible God: "He is the image of the invisible God..."
We serve a God who refused to remain a mystery. In Christ, the "invisible" became "visible." This tells us that God’s nature is not hidden or erratic; it is defined by the person of Jesus. When we look at the warnings in Revelation, we must see them through the lens of the Christ of Colossians. He is not a distant tyrant; He is the sovereign Creator who loves His creation enough to protect its truth.
2. The Authority of the Firstborn ":the firstborn over all creation."
In the ancient world, "firstborn" signified rank and inheritance, not just birth order. Jesus holds the deed to the universe. Because He is the "firstborn over all creation," He has the right to set the boundaries of Scripture. This is why the warning in Revelation 22 is so grave. If the Universe belongs to Him, then the Truth belongs to Him. We are stewards of His Word, not owners of it. To alter the Word is to commit treason against the King’s decree.
3. The Purpose of All Things: "all things have been created through him and for him."
Your life, your breath, the stars in the sky, and the words on the sacred page exist for one destination: Him. Created through Him: He is the source.
Created for Him: He is the goal.
History is not a circle; it is a line moving toward a Person. If "all things" are for Him, then our interpretation of life must center on Him. When we subtract from His Word, we subtract from His glory. When we add to it, we obscure His face.
4. The Consummation of the Creator’s Work:
In revelation 22:20, "He who testifies to these things says, ‘Yes, I am coming soon.’"
The Creator of Colossians 1 is the Coming King of Revelation 22. The hands that shaped the dust of the earth are the same hands that hold the keys of death and Hades. The "Soon" of Jesus is the promise that the Architect is coming to inspect the building. He is coming to reclaim what He created, to heal what is broken, and to dwell with those who have remained faithful to His testimony.
5. Living in the Light of the King’s Return
Knowing that Jesus is both the Source (Firstborn) and the Summit (Coming King), how then shall we live?
With Reverence: Treat the Bible as the King’s Law, not a suggestion.
With Confidence: If all things were created through Him, then nothing happening in the world today is outside of His sovereign grip.
With Longing: Like the ending of Revelation, our hearts should echo: "Amen. Come, Lord Jesus."
The Final Benediction
The story of humanity began with a Word spoken in the dark ("Let there be light"), and it ends with a Word of Grace spoken to the Church. Between the Creation and the Consummation stands the Cross; the place where the Image of the Invisible God bled for His creation.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, the Alpha and the Omega, the Architect of the heavens and the Hope of our hearts. We acknowledge Your supremacy over all things visible and invisible. Help us to guard Your Word with holy fear and to await Your return with holy joy. May Your grace, which began the work in us, carry us until the day we see Your face in the Holy City. In Jesus name, Amen
