HE HAS RISEN! GO AND TELL
Scripture: Mark 16:6–7
“Don’t be alarmed,” he said. “You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him. But go, tell his disciples and Peter, ‘He is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you.’”
Beloved, one of the most transformative moments in history is recorded in Mark 16:6–7, when the angel spoke to the women at the empty tomb. The angel said, “Don’t be alarmed… He has risen! He is not here.” These words are at the very heart of our faith; the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The grave could not hold Him; death could not defeat Him. In this short passage, we see three powerful truths for our lives today: the victory of Christ over death, the assurance of His promises, and the call to be witnesses of the resurrection.
Triumphed over death: the resurrection reminds us that Jesus has triumphed over death. The women came expecting sorrow, mourning the loss of their Lord, but they were met with joy and astonishment. The angel’s words, “He is not here; He has risen,” changed despair into hope. Death, sin, and fear no longer have the final say. For every believer today, this same victory is available. The resurrection is not just an event in history; it is a present reality. Because Christ lives, we can live free from fear, guilt, and hopelessness. No matter the trials we face, the risen Savior has overcome, and His power is at work in our lives.
Assurance of God’s Promises: the resurrection assures us of God’s promises. The angel instructed the women to tell the disciples, and specifically Peter, that Jesus would meet them in Galilee, “just as he told you.” God’s promises are trustworthy. Even when circumstances seem confusing or painful, what He says comes to pass. For Peter, who had denied Jesus, this message was a reminder of grace and restoration. Likewise, each of us can be encouraged that God’s Word is reliable, and His plans for us are perfect. Our obedience and trust are met with His faithfulness, and He always goes ahead of us, preparing the way.
Call to Action: the resurrection calls us to action; to go and tell others what we have seen and experienced. The angel did not say, “Keep this news to yourselves,” but “Go, tell His disciples.” The good news of Jesus’ victory is meant to be shared. It is not enough to rejoice privately in His resurrection; we are called to proclaim it boldly. Every believer is a witness, tasked with sharing hope, restoration, and life in Christ. Our words, our testimony, and our lives should declare that He has risen and that His power is active today.
Beloved, the empty tomb is a message of hope, promise, and mission. Christ is risen, and because He lives, we can live boldly, trusting His Word and sharing the good news with others. Let us ask ourselves: Are we living in the reality of the resurrection? Are we boldly telling others that Jesus is alive and that He goes ahead of us in every situation? Today is the day to embrace the victory of the risen Lord and to step into the mission He calls us to.
Heavenly Father, we thank You for the resurrection of Jesus, for the hope it brings, and for the assurance of Your promises. Empower us to live boldly, to trust Your Word fully, and to proclaim the good news of Christ’s victory to everyone around us. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.
