LIVING WATER – EPISODE 652 || 17TH MARCH, 2026
By Solomon Uwumbolibe Mensah
THE SIXTH SEAL CONTINUES: THE INESCAPABLE WRATH OF GOD
Revelation 6:16
They called to the mountains and the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb! 17For the great day of their wrath has come, and who can withstand it?”
Introduction:
As the sixth seal unfolds, humanity’s fear intensifies. People “called to the mountains and the rocks, ‘Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb!’” This vivid imagery portrays the desperation and hopelessness of those who have rejected God. Believers are reminded that God’s authority is absolute and His judgment is inescapable, yet His mercy remains for those who turn to Him.
1. Humanity’s Desperate Plea:
The cry to the mountains and rocks reflects humanity’s instinct to escape accountability. When people face God’s righteous judgment, all worldly protections fail. Believers are called to heed this warning and recognize that ignoring God’s authority leads to spiritual desperation and fear. True refuge comes only through Christ.
2. Fear of the Lamb’s Wrath:
The phrase “the wrath of the Lamb” reminds us that even the Lamb, who redeems, carries righteous authority to execute judgment. God’s wrath is not arbitrary; it is a response to persistent sin and rebellion. Believers are called to respect His holiness, live in obedience, and avoid provoking His righteous judgment.
3. The Futility of Hiding:
Attempting to hide from God demonstrates the futility of relying on worldly measures for safety. The rocks and mountains cannot shield anyone from divine authority. This teaches believers to seek protection not in human strength, wealth, or influence, but in the saving grace and authority of Jesus Christ.
4. Call to Repentance and Submission:
This desperate cry serves as a warning and invitation: humanity is powerless before God, but repentance and faith bring salvation. Believers are reminded to live surrendered to the Lamb, submitting to His authority, and encouraging others to turn to Him before judgment arrives.
5. Assurance for the Faithful:
While the world trembles in fear, those who belong to Christ have nothing to fear. His wrath is reserved for those who reject Him, but His mercy is abundant for those who trust in Him. Believers can live confidently, knowing that the Lamb protects, guides, and rewards those who remain faithful.
Conclusion:
Revelation 6:16 warns that God’s authority is inescapable and His judgment is righteous. Believers are called to live in obedience, seek refuge in Christ, and submit to His authority. True safety and hope are found only in the Lamb, whose mercy covers those who trust Him and whose power ensures justice for all.
Closing Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we recognize Your supreme authority and the reality of Your righteous judgment. Help us to live in submission to Christ, trust in His protection, and share His message of salvation with others. Strengthen our faith so that we may remain steadfast, even as the world trembles. In Jesus’ name, Amen
