LIVING WATER – EPISODE 609 || 3RD FEBRUARY, 2026
By Solomon Uwumbolibe Mensah
THE FINAL INVITATION: COME AND DRINK
Scripture Reading: Revelation 22:17
“The Spirit and the bride say, ‘Come!’ And let the one who hears say, ‘Come!’ Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life.”
Brothers and Sisters, As Scripture closes, it does not end with thunder, judgment, or fear;it ends with an invitation. The final voice of the Bible is not a shout of condemnation but a call of compassion. Heaven opens its mouth one last time and says a single word: “Come.”
This verse stands as the gospel’s open door. After visions of glory, warnings of judgment, and promises of restoration, God makes His heart unmistakably clear. Salvation is offered freely, urgently, and lovingly. The end of Scripture reveals the beginning of grace for anyone willing to receive it.
1. The Unified Call of Heaven: “The Spirit and the Bride say, Come!”: This invitation is not spoken by one voice alone.
The Spirit; God Himself; calls sinners home.
The Bride; the Church; echoes the same cry to the world.
Heaven and the redeemed are in agreement. God desires salvation, and the Church is commissioned to proclaim it. Evangelism is not a human idea; it is a divine echo. Every sermon, testimony, and prayer is meant to repeat this heavenly word: Come.
The Church is most faithful not when it entertains the world, but when it invites the world to Christ.
2. The Responsibility of the Hearer: “Let the one who hears say, Come!”: The invitation multiplies through obedience. Whoever hears the call is immediately invited to become a caller. Grace received must become grace proclaimed.
Christian faith is never private; it is transmissible. When God rescues you from thirst, He expects you to point others to the fountain. Silence is not neutrality; it is disobedience. If you have heard the invitation, you are now part of the invitation.
3. The Qualification Is Thirst: “Let the one who is thirsty come”: God does not ask for status, history, or perfection—only thirst.
Thirst represents spiritual awareness, hunger, and humility. The only people excluded from this invitation are those who believe they do not need it.
The self-satisfied remain dry, but the desperate are filled. Heaven is not for those who think they are full; it is for those who know they are empty.
4. The Gift Is Free: “Take the free gift of the water of life”: Salvation is not earned, negotiated, or deserved; it is received.
The water of life costs everything to Christ but costs nothing to us. Grace that must be paid for is no longer grace.
This gift cannot be bought with good works, religious titles, or moral effort. It can only be taken with open hands and a surrendered heart. The tragedy of hell is not that the water was unavailable; but that it was refused.
Living as the Invited and the Inviters
Revelation 22:17 confronts us with a question: Are we thirsty; and are we calling others to drink?
The Bible ends with an altar call because God’s mercy extends to the very last page. Time still breathes. Grace still flows. The invitation is still valid; but it will not remain open forever.
Do not delay your coming. Do not withhold your calling. Drink deeply, and then point the thirsty to the same living water.
Prayer
Heavenly father, I hear the call of the Spirit and the Bride today. I confess my thirst and come to You for the water of life. Wash me, fill me, and satisfy my soul with Your grace. Make me a faithful voice that echoes heaven’s invitation to the world. Until the final page becomes eternal reality, keep me drinking; and keep me calling others to come. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
