LIVING WATER – EPISODE 606 || 31ST JANUARY, 2026
By Solomon Uwumbolibe Mensah
THE TIME IS NEAR: THE CHOICE IS FIXED
Scripture Reading: Revelation 22:10–11
“Then he told me, ‘Do not seal up the words of the prophecy of this scroll, because the time is near. Let the one who does wrong continue to do wrong; let the vile person continue to be vile; let the one who does right continue to do right; and let the holy person continue to be holy.’”
Yesterday, we were confronted with the call to worship God alone. Today, the Spirit takes us deeper; into the sobering reality of time, choice, and spiritual finality. As Revelation approaches its final breath, heaven does something unexpected: it opens the scroll fully and declares that the season of delay is ending.
This passage is not an endorsement of evil, nor a surrender to moral chaos. It is a divine announcement that the time of indecision is closing, and that what we persist in is what we are becoming. Grace has spoken. Truth has been revealed. Now humanity must live with clarity.
1. “Do Not Seal Up the Words…”
Unlike Daniel, who was commanded to seal his prophecy for a distant future (Daniel 12:4), John is told the opposite: “Do not seal up the words.”
Why?: Because the time is near: Revelation is not a mystery meant to confuse believers, nor a code reserved for scholars. It is an open warning, an open invitation, and an open mirror. God wants His people to see clearly where history is going, who He is, and what He requires.
The unsealed scroll tells us this: God is not hiding the truth. He is revealing it before it is too late.
2. “The Time Is Near”
“The time is near” does not mean fear; it means finality is approaching. It means history is moving toward a fixed destination. The window for repentance, obedience, and alignment is not endless.
This nearness creates urgency, not hysteria. The gospel is not a countdown clock meant to terrify; it is a call to readiness. God speaks now because He loves. Silence would be judgment. Revelation is mercy.
Every generation lives closer to the fulfillment than the last. Therefore, delay is dangerous. Neutrality is an illusion. Procrastination becomes a decision.
3. “Let the One Who Does Wrong Continue
At first glance, verse 11 feels unsettling:
“Let the one who does wrong continue to do wrong…”
This is not God encouraging sin. It is God acknowledging hardened trajectories. When truth is fully revealed and continually rejected, God allows people to walk the path they insist on choosing.
This is divine restraint, not indifference.
Scripture repeatedly shows that persistent rejection leads to spiritual solidification. What we repeatedly choose shapes who we become. Sin unrepented of does not remain static; it deepens. Holiness pursued does the same.
Heaven is declaring: Choose carefully, because your direction is becoming permanent.
4. “Let the One Who Does Right…
The same principle applies to the righteous.
Those who do right are called to continue.
Those who are holy are called to remain holy.
The end times are not a season for spiritual laziness or compromise. They are a call to steadfast obedience. Holiness is not a moment; it is a maintained posture. Righteousness is not an achievement; it is a daily alignment.
God is saying to His faithful ones: Do not grow weary. Do not be distracted. Do not loosen your grip. What you are becoming matters eternally.
Living with the Scroll Unsealed
Revelation 22:10–11 teaches us that as history nears its conclusion, clarity increases, not confusion. God has spoken. The scroll is open. The truth is plain.
This passage confronts us with a holy tension:
Grace is abundant, but time is not infinite.
Mercy is extended, but choices have weight.
We are living in days where neutrality is collapsing. The world is being sorted not by labels, but by loyalties. What we love, pursue, tolerate, and persist in is shaping us for eternity.
The final call of Scripture before Christ speaks again is not complex theology; it is directional clarity.
Choose rightly, Remain faithful. Pursue holiness. The time is near.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for unsealing Your Word and speaking clearly to our generation. Help me to live with urgency, not fear; with obedience, not delay. Search my heart and align my steps with Your truth. Strengthen me to continue in righteousness and to grow in holiness. As the time draws near, may my life be found faithful and ready.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
